The continuing El Niño weather event has brought drought conditions to Malawi. No rain during the plantation period will inevitably lead to increased food shortages. Acute hunger and inflation will be exacerbated – so much so, the president has declared another state of emergency.
While the foundation has enough Soya flour to last through to June/July, stocks will need replenishing soon. Sourcing it and affording it will be a challenge. Fundraising locally will be almost impossible, which puts added fundraising pressure on the Friends of JCT, here in the UK.

What began as a small feeding programme has now touched the lives of over 12,000 orphans and vulnerable children across rural communities, since 2000.
