Against all odds

The well documented withdrawal of US aid around the world is beginning to be felt in countries, like Malawi, that have relied heavily on it in the past. This means increased competition for ever decreasing pools of funding.

Add to this the ongoing rebuild after the devastation wreaked by historic weather events and government-level economic mismanagement and the country has been left reeling. And, yet…

At the start of a new year – which will see the Foundation celebrate its 25th anniversary – JCT Malawi is still setting ambitious targets in support of the world’s very poorest and most vulnerable people.

Alongside its feeding programme, the Foundation has committed to:

  • Expanding the Piggery Programme: This income-generating initiative – encouraging self-sustainable farming opportunities for local volunteer-carer households – will be extended to all 12 centres.
  • Water and Sanitation: To drill 22 more boreholes by 2026, providing clean water for rural communities.
  • Training and education: To train 30 more volunteer caregivers in management and teaching methodology for Early Childhood Development.
  • Youth Empowerment: Formation of youth clubs, discussing development, HIV prevention, and income-generating activities like farming and entrepreneurship.

Will you help?

Now, more than ever, JCT Malawi needs the support of its ‘friends’ here in the UK. Please consider a donation at the start of this new year. Give in the confidence that every penny of every gift goes direct to those who need it most.
