Funds urgently needed as helpers go hungry

Food shortages and high prices continue to devastate rural communities in Malawi. So much so that the John C Thomas Children’s Foundation is not only supporting the orphans and vulnerable children in its care, but the wider community as well.

The severity of the situation is highlighted by the fact that many of its volunteer carers have no food at home. People are dying from starvation in the most remote areas.

Instability and unpredictability in the food market has led the Foundation to purchase what its hopes will be a year’s supply of Soya flour, salt and sugar upfront, wiping out our recent donation in one fell swoop. This, of course, will have a significant impact on cashflow.

Funds are urgently needed to continue this life-changing work. Will you help?
