In addition to its early childhood development and education programmes, JCT Malawi is developing a life-skills programme for young people in the rural communities in which it works.
A natural progression of its early years work, the Foundation’s youth clubs offer an informal setting where young people can openly discuss the issues they face growing up. This includes important education around sex and HIV. Places where young people can socialise in a safe space, football and netball teams encourage healthy lifestyles and teamwork.
In addition, youth clubs are offering young people the opportunity to learn new skills, like welding, carpentry and tailoring and a forum to encourage entrepreneurship and income-generating activities, like farming.
Will you help?
To help build these programmes, we’ve been asked to support this important youth-development work with sports kits and tools – from welding equipment and sewing machines to carpentry tools.
