Cyclones are a fact of life, during Malawi’s rainy season. While there is a resigned acceptance of the annual destruction, it’s hard to read the reports from JCT Malawi that many of the children in their Mangochi and Nsanje centre communities are missing.
People are sleeping in the open on higher ground, or at the sides of roads. JCT has responded by sending food, clothes, and blankets to the worst affected areas. Their efforts are being hampered, however, by the destruction of roads and bridges, as they try and get aid to these remote, rural areas.
The aid is being reappropriated from their ongoing programme reserves. Will you help us replenish their stocks?
